LIFE GROUPS are a great way to get connected at ERBC!

These small groups of 6-12 people meet together once a week for 60 to 90 minutes, to spend time discussing interesting and important questions related to the weekly sermon, while also building friendships, praying for one another, serving together, and simply having fun! We have groups meeting online, in person, and hybrid groups offering a little of both.

    Life Group Frequently Asked Questions

These small groups of 6-12 people meet together online or in-person to spend time discussing interesting and important questions related to the weekly sermon. In our challenging times, Life Groups provide the opportunity to build friendships, pray for one another, serve one another, and simply have fun! Each group meets once a week for 1-1½ hours, and for 9-10 week sessions.

Here at ERBC, our Life Groups are the hub of our ministry. They’re a place where real ministry takes place, whether that’s on campus here at ERBC or virtually through Zoom. We study God’s Word, support and share our lives with one another. Life Groups are a great place for:

    CONNECTING WITH OTHERS
Your group will be a great way to meet new people and build healthy relationships.

    GROWING TOGETHER
Through your group, you can experience spiritual, emotional, professional, and intellectual growth.

    SERVING ONE ANOTHER
Your group will be a rewarding environment to discover your specific gifts and use them to serve one another and think up creative ways to love God by loving your neighbor.

    PLAYING TOGETHER
Life just seems more serious these days. While we take God’s word and the challenges life poses us seriously, we try not to take ourselves too seriously. Life Groups provide an opportunity to enjoy laughter and friendships and remember that there is a lighter side to life too.

Life Groups meet on various nights of the week. We have groups that meet exclusively online, here on campus at ERBC, or hybrid groups that offer a little bit of both.  Take a look at the list of groups we’re offering this Winter to see which groups are offered, when, and where.

Each Life Group quarter lasts about 10 weeks, give or take a week. We have Fall, Winter & Spring quarters. At the end of each, you will have the choice of staying in the same group, trying a new group or even taking a break. Most groups stay together throughout the entire year. Life Groups do not meet during July-August and December.

Joining a Life Group requires roughly a 10-week commitment to attend weekly meetings and review the discussion questions ahead of time. Obviously, allowances are made for sickness, vacation, work conflicts, and other special events, but not much more. This commitment is the key to a strong Life Group. You have the first three weeks to attend the group to make sure it’s a good fit for you.

We offer child care free for the children of Life Group participants free of charge on Wednesday nights.

Most of the studies are based on the previous weekend’s message. These “sermon-based” Life Groups are built on what we call a “Lecture-Lab” model. Imagine the weekend message as a lecture on Christian living and the Life Group as a lab where you get to roll up your sleeves and discuss how the weekend’s message works in real life. Each week there will be a series of Bible passages and questions on the back of the sermon note sheet to study before the meeting. It will usually take 20 to 40 minutes per week to complete the discussion questions ahead of time.

Few things in life are free and Life Groups are no exception! The cost of Life Groups is the cost of commitment. During the first meeting, each group will complete a “covenant agreement” together. This simple form helps each group discuss their priorities and commitment. Part of that commitment is the promise to attend each week prepared to engage. You have the first three weeks to decide if your group is a good fit for you. So, when you join a Life Group, you’re promising to connect in and be prepared each week. It’s this commitment that makes Life Groups work. We realize it’s a big commitment, but it only lasts about 10 weeks. At the end of each quarter, you have the choice of recommitting for another, trying a new group, or taking a break from Life Groups altogether.

Joining a Life Group is as easy as 1-2-3:

    1. Choose a group from the list of Life Groups provided on our website or the Life Group brochure found in the weekend worship folder.

    2. You can register for the group by filling out the online form, sign up through our APP, or using your paper connection card at one of our Sunday services.

    3. Your leader will contact you to thank for signing up for their group and provide you with any other important information you might need.

Yes, our NextGen Ministries offer small groups for middle and high school students. These are different than our sermon-based Life Groups, in that they are instead topical based. For more information about junior high or high school groups, please contact students@eaglerockbaptist.com.

Yes! Throughout the year ERBC offers groups built around specific needs like Grief Recovery, or Financial Peace. If you are interested in joining a group, but are not sure what group is best for you, please contact Andrew Krayer-White for guidance in group placement.
