Our Mission
Eagle Rock Baptist Church is called by God to reach
More People in our community and around the world with the Gospel of Jesus,
and to encourage and equip people to be More Like Jesus.
Our Four Steps
To accomplish our mission, we believe that our church members must remain committed to these four steps:
Worship
Worship regularly at the weekly church services. We have live in-person services every Sunday morning at 9am and 11am.
Grow
Take steps of faith through Life Groups, personal Bible study and prayer time, and giving financially to ERBC.
Serve
Discover and use your God-given abilities to contribute to furthering Godâs work at Eagle Rock Baptist Church.
Core Values
We are created to live in authentic community, marked by radical generosity and a transformed identity, because life in Christ is not about me but about Him and others. As we grow together, give freely, and live out who God has called us to be, we better reflect Jesus.
Authentic Community
- We are created for community because God lives in community.
- Lifeâs not about me, itâs about we.
- We grow better together. Life change happens in circles, not rows. Life change happens life-on-life.
- The Christian life canât be lived in isolation. You can only accomplish the âone anothersâ of Scripture in community.
Radical Generosity
- Youâre never more like Jesus than when youâre giving and serving.
- What we think we own is really on loan. Even our breath is borrowed.
- We are blessed to be a blessing. When we are a blessing, weâre blessed.
- God desires the first and best portion. First-fruits living.
- Generosity is sharing and serving God with your time, talent, treasure, testimony and touch.
Transformed Identity
- We have been called out and commissioned. We are set apart and sent. Lifeâs not about me, itâs about Him and them.
- If you have a pulse, you have a purpose. We were made to make an impact.
- Who we are determines what we do. You can teach what you know, but only reproduce what you are.
Vision
We envision a church shaped by Godâs Word, vibrant worship, intentional discipleship, and empowering leadership, where every generation and culture is equipped to grow, serve, and share Christ. Rooted in strong families and driven by local and global mission, we seek to see lives transformed and Godâs Kingdom expanded from our community to the ends of the earth.
Preaching and Teaching God's Word
We envision a church family that communicates, in a variety of ways, the message of the Bible and its relevance to the beliefs, values and choices of daily life. We see a church family that receives the Word of God with great eagerness, examining the teaching for Biblical accuracy and applying it diligently to our daily lives (Acts 17:11). We see the members of our church family âthoroughly equipped for every good workâ (2 Timothy 3:16-17), âfilled with the Spiritâ (Ephesians 5:18) and demonstrating the âfruit of the Spiritâ (Galatians 5:22-23). We envision a church family filled with âdoers of the Wordâ and not merely hearers (James 1:22-23).
Inspiring Worship
We envision a church family that looks forward with enthusiasm and joy to coming together to worship the Lord. We see believers being challenged to deepen their walk with the Lord. We see seekers being challenged to enter into a living encounter with Jesus Christ. We envision a church that comes together to worship in a variety of ways. We see our worship services being innovative and sensitive, reverent and relaxed, joyful and prayerful, intentional and authentic, expressive and nurturing. We see a celebration of Godâs character and works in spirit and truth (John 4:24).
How We Make Disciples
Growing in Christ: We envision a church that develops peopleânew believers as well as more mature followersâ into individuals who are becoming more and more like Jesus in their character, their attitudes, and their behavior. We see our members growing in Christ through godly habits developed individually, in small and mid-size groups, and in worship services. As a result we see a church family that loves, encourages, and fellowships with one another.
Serving Christ: We envision a church where âevery member is a ministerâ where people are serving the Lord faithfully, having discovered how they are uniquely shaped by God for ministry. We see our people aware of their God-given spiritual gifts, equipped to serve Christ effectively and integrated into a ministry, within or outside our church, that matches who they are. We also see existing ministries thriving and new ministries starting up because of the uniquely-shaped individuals God brings to us.
Sharing Christ: We envision a church family that is enthusiastic about sharing the Good News with those that God is putting within their circle of influence. We see our people encouraged and equipped to share their testimonies wherever God places them âat work, over coffee, at home around the dinner table, at the park while their kids are playingâŚÂ We see thousands of people coming to faith in Jesus from Eagle Rock and surrounding communities, and we see new believers being baptized as a testimony to lives changed by Godâs grace.
Empowering Leadership
We envision a church family with leaders who have intimate, growing relationships with God, resulting in proven Christlike character that is âabove reproachâ and a clear sense of Godâs calling on their lives.
We see leaders who enthusiastically support and communicate the core values, mission and vision of our church, so that everyone understands them. We see a leadership team that defines goals for the accomplishment of our mission and vision and regularly monitors the implementation of these goals.
We envision a church with leaders who motivate, equip, support, and mentor people for ministry who, in turn, are able to mentor others. We see a church in which leaders are consistently and intentionally developing new leaders, because everyone is seen as a potential leader.
Family Life
We envision a church where healthy, God-honoring families are grown and reproduced. We see couples developing deepening relationships with each other and the Lord. We see parents being encouraged and equipped to train their children to follow the Lord. We see countless children and teens beginning personal relationships with Jesus Christ, being baptized and building a foundation that leads to a lifetime of full devotion to Jesus. We see young people eager to go to church with their parents and enthusiastically inviting their friends to come with them. We see more and more families of all kinds experiencing the joy of the Lord at ERBC.
Multi-Ethnic and Generational
We envision a church that reflects and celebrates the cultural and generational diversity we see in our community. We see people of all ages and ethnicities worshiping, growing, serving, and leading in our church. We see, in our church family, an appreciation for Godâs creativity which leads a diverse group of people to worship the same God in unity.
Local and Global Missions
We envision a church that is committed to growing Godâs Kingdom from our doorstep to the ends of the earth. We see members of our church family bringing the Good News to our local community by supporting and serving with local outreach programs and projects. We see more new churches being planted and growing, as a result of our churchâs partnership. We see people on the other side of the globe reached with the Good News and discipled to be more like Jesus, because of our missionary support and mini-missions involvement. We see a church that is aware and excited about fulfilling the Great Commission, and, as a result, people from our own church family answering the call to serve in career missionary service. We see a church that is following Jesusâs example by seeking to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people across the street and around the globe.
Beliefs
We believe the Bible is Godâs authoritative Word and that one true GodâFather, Son, and Holy Spiritâis at work redeeming the world through Jesus Christ. By grace, sinners are regenerated, formed into the church, and called to live Christlike lives marked by faithful worship, obedience, cooperation, and hope in Christâs promised return and eternal Kingdom.
The Word of God
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
The Trinity
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons; that these are equal to every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption.
Regeneration
We believe that all humans are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit.
God the Father
We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, Godâs only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.Family Life
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide.Multi-Ethnic and Generational
The Ordinances
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: baptism and the Lordâs Supper (Communion). We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer into water in the name of the triune God. We believe that the Lordâs Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Church
We believe in the church universal, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work, and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.
Religious Liberty
We believe that every human has direct relations with God and is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith; that each church is independent and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; that therefore Church and State must be kept separate as having different functions, each fulfilling its duties free from dictation or patronage of the other.
Christian Conduct
We believe that a Christian should live for the glory of God and the well-being of his fellowmen; that his conduct should be blameless before the world; that he should be a faithful steward of his possessions, and that he should seek to realize for himself and others the full stature of maturity in Christ.
The Last Things
We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal felicity of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked.
Church Cooperation
We believe that local churches can best promote the cause of Jesus Christ by cooperating with one another in a denominational organization. Such an organization, whether a regional or district conference, exists and functions by the will of the churches. Cooperation in a conference is voluntary and may be terminated at any time. Churches may likewise cooperate with inter-denominational fellowships on a voluntary, independent basis.
