Good News Great Joy!

Devotional Manuscript: Good News Of Great Joy!
Message By Dr. Rick Mandl, December 22, 2020, Eagle Rock Baptist Church

Hey church family. We are three days away from Christmas and so I want to take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas! And I want to challenge you to think about the message that the Angels delivered to the shepherds on that first Christmas morning. It’s found in Luke chapter 2 and verse 10

The Message Of The Angels To The Shepherds Was. . . “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Three things I would challenge you to think about as you reflect on those words, and three things are . . . Good News, Great Joy, And All The People

Have you ever stopped to think about what a REVOLUTIONARY message that is? Think about it this way . . . Have you ever seen one of those car dealership commercials that says, “Anybody can buy a car here!” And you ponder those words, and you wonder. . . “Anybody??” Really, “Anybody” can buy a car here? And then you look a little closer at that claim and you notice that there is an asterisk next to that statement And you notice that asterisk has three letters beside it And those three letters are. . . W.A.C. Do you know what W.A.C. stands for? With Approved Credit! In other words, ANYBODY can buy a car IF they meet the qualifications, IF they make it through the approval process, And IF they have enough money to cover the bill.

You contrast that with what those angels told us on that first Christmas which was that ANYBODY could come to God. And they meant ANYBODY Approved credit not-withstanding. . . All you have to do is what the shepherds and wise men did All you have to do is ACCEPT God’s grace that comes through the Prince of Peace, whose name is Jesus.

Have you accepted the gift of his grace? If you never have before there’s no better time than Christmas. That’s one gift you don’t want to leave unopened It’s one gift that once you receive it, you’ll never want to return. If this gift is one that you have already received, then I want to give you not just my permission, but my encouragement to regift it - - to pass it on to someone else who doesn’t have it. Amen.
