There is a well-known children’s rhyme that says, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” Anyone who has ever been hurt by words knows that this just isn’t true. Words have power. They have the power to hurt or the power to heal.
This weekend we’re beginning a new teaching series called “Zip It.” We’ll be looking at the words we speak and what they reveal about what’s going on inside of us.
We think that if we can clean up our speech, then it will somehow make us better people. The Bible tells us that the best way to clean up our speech is to clean up our heart.
In this series we’ll look at some of the most common ways our tongues get us into trouble and how Jesus can change the way we speak by transforming our lives.
